Hedgehog Launch

Hedgehog Launch Instructions

Being a flight simulation and action game, Hedgehog Launch's controls rely a lot on your mouse. You need to pull back your mouse and release it to launch your hedgehog heavenward. From there, you need to control your hedgehog with the left and right arrow keys... making him jump from one platform to another. With the controls taken care of, let's take a closer look at the game.

Hedgehog Launch Walkthrough

Another excellent work by jmtb02, Hedgehog Launch is a game that puts you in a nation's space program where there is only one goal: get off the planet. YES, the goal doesn't get more straightforward than this. The bad news though is that the nation is Minovia City. This is a small Caribbean Principality. It only has 15000 people and most of them work at a rum industry as quality control personnel. To make matters work, you are expected to achieve that goal with a 'whopping' 50 dollars, a slingshot, as well as an infinite supply hedgehogs. YES, folks. You have read that right - unlimited supply of hedgehogs!

Sounds impossible? Nah, not when you are in Minovia City where miracles happen. Using the 50 bucks you initially have, you can buy basic upgrades and take it from there. Launch your hedgehog heavenward using your mouse - dragging and releasing it. Here's a note: you won't make it to outer space for the first time... PERIOD. There's just no way you can do it in one go. HOWEVER, you can use your rocket thrusters which are controlled by the left and right arrow keys to bounce off of platforms and pick up coins. This is a surefire way to earn dough... money that you can use once your hedgehog stops moving, which marks the end of a day. Next, use the cash to buy MORE upgrades and give it another shot. Basically, you just need to rinse and repeat the process until you hit the outer space.

Improve the stretchiness and elasticity of your slingshot, increase the initial height of your slingshot, make your rockets fuel effective, install emergency rockets, parachutes, radar - these are just some of the upgrades you can lay your hands on. There are different upgrade paths to take on and it all boils down to personal preference.

I'm sure that you have realized by now that this game isn't about IF you are going to get to outer space. Rather the question in this game is WHEN. Since there is no way to lose money, eventually, you should have enough money in your pocket to max out your launcher. The challenge, however, lies in reaching as few days as possible. John Conney, he's jmtb02 just in case you don't know, had a personal best score of 9 days. Can you beat it? Well, there's only one way to find out: that is to play Hedgehog Flight. Another word about the challenge: it allows you to replay the game many times over and it won't get boring. After all, you are trying to beat your personal best... or if you think you are really that good, you can try to beat the top scores in the game.

Just like most games from jmtb02, this action game comes with a GREAT sound track coupled with bright and flashy visual effects. While this game is NOT as intense and fast paced as the other games he has created, this is still fun. True, it relies largely on lucky placement. HOWEVER, it still gives enough control to the user to make sure he's playing. Not just spectating. Anyway, there's an important moral lesson you can derive from this flight simulation action game: that you don't need a degree... that you don't need to learn rocket science to send hedgehogs to outer space!
